ingrid-michaelson.jpgSinger-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, whose work has appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, is the latest artist to be featured in the Onion AV Club’s “Random Rules,” a piece which finds the subject shuffling through his/her iPod and discussing what comes up.  In the past, The Daily Show’s Rob Corddry discussed the Gerbils; now “Two-Head Boy, Pt. 2″ is what pops up.  Michaelson:

Sonically, it takes some time to jibe with it, but I think it’s one of those bands that once you really get past the almost-unpleasantness of it, it’s pretty awesome.  A lot of their songs are really jarring–there’s so many things going on, and his voice, he does those octave leaps, like “Oh-wah,” all the time.  You don’t like it at first, and then it clicks in your brain, and you’re like, “This is ridiculously good.”

After making its formal debut last August at the 2007 PopFest (preceding a set by Circulatory System), the trailer for the feature adaptation of Major Organ and the Adding Machine is now available for online download at Orange Twin. Previously, only bootleg versions, taped from the audience, were available via YouTube. Right now Orange Twin is only making a high-quality, Flash version available for download; soon a lower-res version will show up on YouTube. To download, go here. Thanks to DrPanda97 for catching this.

NPR.com and All Songs Considered are hosting a “Best CDs of 2007″ poll in which you can participate. Nominated for the award are both of Montreal and The Apples in Stereo. Cast your vote here.

The other day, in desperation because of an onslaught in spam comments, I changed my blog settings so that all comments are now held for moderation.  Right now there are about 2,000 comments being held, which just appeared overnight.  I can’t even get that page to load so I can delete them.  So in case you’re posting a comment on my blog and are wondering why it’s not appearing…that’s the answer.  If you need to reach me, here’s the email.  (And that email account became a spambot over the weekend…I think I may have fixed that, though.)  Just an update – carry on!

The Optical Atlas streaming jukebox has been updated with 13 new tracks, all on the theme of “early Elephant 6 (and friends).”  Have a listen.

Cloud Recordings has been periodically posting Will Cullen Hart artwork for sale at their website, and usually by the time I notice it, everything’s sold out–therefore I haven’t posted about it here.  But there’s a new batch of artwork for sale and you can have a look here.  If everything’s sold by the time you click on the link, keep a close eye on the website in future weeks, as more artwork tends to appear.

The December 2nd Elephant 6 Show podcast is now available for download at our E6 Radio page.  There’s some serious distortion that mars the last half of the show or so, unfortunately, but still some great song choices.

Faster Circuits, the new Derek Almstead-led M Coast offshoot, has posted its first song, “Mystical Shit,” on their MySpace page. Check it out here. It wouldn’t be out of place on Say it in Slang, actually.
