icydemons.jpgNext Sunday, November 9th–which, mind you, will be after a new president has been chosen, if you can conceive of that–the Athens Ciné will be hosting performances by the Gerbils, Icy Demons, and Pegasuses-XL.  Doors open at 8.  If you’re in the area, check it out–it will be a rare chance to see the Gerbils live, and it’s been a while since Chicago’s Icy Demons hit Athens.

Pitchfork has posted its own coverage of last weekend’s Pitchfork Festival, and included in the coverage is an interview with Robert Schneider of the Apples in Stereo (and, much to my personal amusement, Robert’s manager Dan gets in there too).   You can read it here (scroll down a bit).

There’s also an interview with Jeremy Barnes of A Hawk and a Hacksaw (again – you’ll need to scroll down), in which he talks about his upcoming plans, including recording an album with Romanian singer Maria Ion.  On that same page (keeeeep scrolling down) is an interview with the lovely Griffin Rodriguez of Icy Demons, who just put on an impressive show here in Madison alongside AHAAH, performing on the lakefront.

There’s also great coverage of Pitchfork Fest at You Ain’t No Picasso, including the sets by A Hawk and a Hacksaw and Elf Power.

By the way, even though I said I’d gone fishing, I did actually update the Optical Atlas streaming jukebox a few days ago with new music by Icy Demons and older stuff from of Montreal, Olivia Tremor Control, etc.
