Nesey Gallons

phoning

The podcast Phoning It In has just posted an exclusive performance from Nesey Gallons recorded in September.  You can download or stream the podcast here.  Thanks to Nadav for the link.

nesey.jpgThe vinyl edition of Nesey Gallons‘ debut record, Eyes & Eyes & Eyes Ago, is now available for pre-order at Cloud Recordings.  It’s pressed on 150-gram vinyl, with an 8-page full color booklet.  Copies ordered now should ship within the next few weeks–and it will also be available for sale on tour, as Nesey is headed out with Circulatory System and Pipes You See, Pipes You Don’t (dates here).

Circulatory System have announced a string of dates to support the release of Signal Morning, and they’re touring with Pipes You See, Pipes You Don’t (that’s Pete from CS and Olivia Tremor Control) and Nesey Gallons (also in CS and The Music Tapes).  The CD is released September 8th, the vinyl in October: pre-order your vinyl here, and do it quick if you want the deluxe version with the bonus LP.

Elephant 6 followers and regular readers of this website should by now be familiar with Nesey Gallons, the singer-songwriter who toured with the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour as well as The Music Tapes, Nana Grizol, and Brian Dewan, and recently contributed to Music Tapes for Clouds and Tornadoes, Circulatory System’s Signal Morning, and Julian Koster’s The Singing Saw at Christmastime.  The first full-length album by Nesey, Eyes & Eyes & Eyes Ago, was recently self-released in a limited edition, in CD-R format with homemade packaging (along with 2 other works, Somewhere We Both Walk and Two Bicycles).  Now Hurrah for Karamazov Records will be officially releasing Eyes & Eyes & Eyes Ago on September 8 in vinyl LP and digital download (the same date Signal Morning will be released by Cloud Recordings). A small CD pressing is also planned.  It’s a cliche, but the album might genuinely be called a haunting collection of songs: in the press release, Nesey says, “Walking past a graveyard is just as much of an influence on me as Rubber Soul. The idea of being surrounded by other souls, real or imagined, interacting with them and coming to terms with their loss and absence is largely what this record is about.”  An East Coast tour is also in the works.

Wow, I’ve been stingy with the updates lately.  You’d think being down with the swine flu (or something similar) would mean lots of time to update your website, but instead, for me at least, it seems to mean indulging in reading 80’s New Mutants comics and having Russ Meyer movie marathons (Beyond the Valley of the Dolls soundtrack…ordered).  BUT there is lots of great Elephant 6 news in the pipeline, some of which I’m not allowed to blab about yet, so keep checking back.  In the meantime, You Ain’t No Picasso has posted a zipped bootleg of last year’s Lexington stop on the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour.  Good memories.

And in case you’re wondering what happened to that Major Organ and the Adding Machine Expanded CD+DVD, I’m happy to inform you that Orange Twin has confirmed it’s OFFICIAL and is still on track for a fall release. Just a few more months.

If you ordered one of the Nesey Gallons CD-Rs (here) and have been awaiting a package in the mail, you should be getting one soon.  Nesey posted at the Townhall:

hi. i apologise, there were some delays, but everyones parcel will be going out tomorrow so it shouldnt be long now. the hurrahforkaramazov.com website will be changing and there ought to be some specific news soon about eyes ago vinyl etc. thanks everyone for your patience and support. nesey

Exciting news about an Eyes and Eyes and Eyes Ago vinyl!

I’m working on getting the Jukebox updated with some fresh and new Elephant 6 tracks, but in the meantime, here’s some scattered news:

of Montreal has joined this year’s Lollapalooza lineup.  I assume they’ll get a much bigger stage than the last time they played, a few years back.

Nesey Gallons records are still for sale, and you can order them via Paypal at this website. Sadly, no international orders are being accepted, but some arrangements might be made if you contact Grant.

Finally, anyone with an interest in the Music Tapes should check out this Townhall thread by Gotham.

Grant has posted at the Townhall that Nesey Gallons, who recently played in the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour and the Music Tapes/Nana Grizol/Brian Dewan tour, will be self-releasing three of his records, including the long-awaited Eyes and Eyes and Eyes Ago.  To pre-order a copy, send an email to karamazovrecordings@yahoo.com. I can attest that if you’re a Music Tapes fan, you’ll really enjoy his music.  Here’s a video to ”Aurora Borealis,” from Eyes and Eyes and Eyes Ago:
