Thanks to theaddingmachine for pointing to this excellent new interview with Robert Schneider, in which he discusses the new Apples in Stereo album (due out next year).  He also talks quite a bit about his work producing In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

James Husband’s debut album A Parallax I is shipping now, if you pre-ordered from Polyvinyl Records (I just got my copy in the mail on Saturday, and I’m listening to it as I’m writing this…).  And the Austinist has just posted a great interview with Jamey, conducted from his porch while he was locked out of his house.

Andy Gonzales released his seventh Marshmallow Coast album, Phreak Phantasy, earlier this year on Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records, and the University of Georgia’s redandblack.com has an interview up (thanks to Randy for the link) in which he drops the news that he’s working on a re-recording of the second Marshmallow Coast album, 1999’s Seniors and Juniors.  That album, which has become a cult favorite, was originally released on Kindercore Records.  It was a decidedly lo-fi concept album about going to school–charming little songs closed out with the notably epic “Little Pythagoras.”  The “remake” will most likely appear on HHBTM.  Andy confirmed to me, “I am recording Super Seniors and Juniors which has lots of electro and new arrangements, and will have pretty much everyone I know playing on it (as long as it fits). Emily Growden-Almstead [M Coast] is singing some of the songs, and in place of the instrumentals, I am adding new Pink Floyd/David Lynch-ish instrumentals that I recorded recently.”

Don’t expect this intriguing experiment to surface until sometime next year.  HHBTM will also be reissuing the first and third Marshmallow Coast albums, Timesquare and Marshmallow Coasting, on limited-edition vinyl with his early singles as bonus tracks.

Big Fresh’s stellar album B.F.F., which I excerpted in my podcast interview with John Ferguson, is gaining a worldwide re-release from Garden Gate Records this Tuesday.  The label, which is also releasing Thee American Revolution’s debut album this November, recently partnered with Red Eye Distribution; the result is that the album previously limited to 150 copies will now be available more widely in online dealers and select record stores.

You Ain’t No Picasso recently interviewed Madeline for their My First Time segment.  Check it out.

An interesting interview with Kevin Barnes has been posted at Subba-Cultcha, including Kevin’s thoughts on of Montreal’s early years as part of the Elephant 6 collective.  Thanks to I Rule the School for the link.  There’s also another interview at Drowned in Sound.

Lucas Jensen (of Venice is Sinking) has conducted an excellent interview with Will Cullen Hart at Aquarium Drunkard, discussing his MS, the new Circulatory System record, and the new recordings by Olivia Tremor Control, as well as some of the older, unreleased Elephant 6 material.   Thanks to Abel for the link.

gramps_lg.jpgStill catching up on old news from our break: You Ain’t No Picasso last week posted an interview with Eric Harris, co-director (with Joey Foreman) of the Major Organ and the Adding Machine film.  You might also know him from The Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, Ham1, and many others.  The interview features scads of valuable information, too much to summarize here: head on over and check it out.
